Pearl at Kalauao Golf Course Renovation
We are excited to share with you the upcoming enhancements and temporary closures necessary for completing work on our golf course and clubhouse.
Scheduled to commence early in January 2024, all nine remning holes of the golf course will undergo irrigation installations and complete green renovations. This renovation process will temporarily impact play and tournaments at Pearl Country Club; however, it promises an enhanced golfing experience upon reopening with improved greens and advanced irrigation systems for a more enjoyable round.
The clubhouse plans to close concurrently in early January 2024 to undertake upgrades that include new carpeting, pnting, wall texturing, AV equipment installations, and other enhancements. Our goal is to achieve a grand reopening by the of 2024, providing timely updates as further detls become avlable.
At Pearl at Kalauao Golf Course, our commitment lies in responsible stewardship of land alongside integrating Hawian culture and honoring its rich history.
Grille Room upgrades are planned for the following:

Pearl Country Club, Nestled in the Heart of Kalauao Ahupuaa
Located within the culturally significant Kalauao ahupua'a 'land division', Pearl at Kalauao Golf Course is a club deeply embedded in stories, traditional names, and historic knowledge that encapsulates its transformation as Pearl Country Club.
The name Kalauao signifies diverse meanings including 'multitude of clouds', 'way or opening to reconciliation' known as Kala'auo or Ka ala'uao,' and represents a 'bright future and new beginnings'. The estate, gifted by Paki Bishop's mother Laura Konia, was part of the estate of Ke Ali'i Bernice Pauahi Bishop, founder of Kamehameha Schools.
Today, Pearl at Kalauao serves as an abode of cultural heritage and natural resources, acting as a community gathering space.
Mo'oku-auhau Genealogy
Kamehameha Schools oversees over 369,000 acres of 'na Pauahi across Hawi, including the lands within Kalauao ahupua'a that ext from Pu'u Kwipoo in the mauka region to Pearl at Kalauao and beyond.
Under Kamehameha Schools' care as a dedicated steward, we ensure the resilience of these lands to support our educational mission and vision for a thriving lahui people.
A Treasure Trove of History
Kalauao is a testament to history and culture. Here, mo'oolelo stories, wahi pana historical sites, traditional names, and unique features contribute significantly to its cultural richness. This profound knowledge forms the bedrock for responsible stewardship that permeates all land-related activities.
What's Coming Next?
Additional improvements are scheduled over the next one to two years including upgrades to irrigation systems, green renovations, clubhouse enhancements encompassing ballrooms, bathrooms, and pro shop refurbishments.
