Sentosa's Serapong Golf Course Achieves Prestigious Recognition as the World's Best Golf Course

Sentosa Golf Club’s SGC Serapong course has made history by being named the world's best golf course at the annual World Golf Awards in Abu Dhabi, becoming the first Asian course to receive this distinction. This accolade follows four other clubs - Old Course at St Andrews and Championship Course at Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland, Augusta National Golf Club hosting the Masters, and 2022 winner Shinnecock Hills Golf Club from the United States.

In addition to clinching World's Best Golf Course award in Singapore and Asia for two consecutive years 2022, Serapong also retned these honors. The achievement is particularly significant as there are over 39,000 golf courses globally, making being named the best a big deal according to Andrew Johnston, SGC’s General Manager and Director of Agronomy.

Speaking on this landmark victory, Johnston stated: This prestigious recognition marks an exceptional milestone for our entire team's dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence. It reaffirms our commitment to delivering unparalleled golfing experiences and elevating Singapore’s reputation as a premier golf destination worldwide.

He continued, Throughout its existence, Serapong has achieved global prominence by hosting significant events that have attracted golf enthusiasts from across the globe. It has consistently demonstrated its ability to stand out on the world stage and further promote Sentosa Island and Singapore through key tournaments like LIV Golf Singapore.

The par-71 course underwent extensive renovation in 2020, and it has been host to notable events such as the men's Singapore Open tournament, receiving a ranking of No.55 among the world’s greatest courses by Golf Digest for two years running.

In addition to Serapong, SGC boasts another renowned golf course - New Tanjong which has undergone a $32 million renovation in 2016 and is set as venue for the HSBC Women's World Championship tournament.

SGC offers memberships with approximately 1,600 members, of which about 70 are locals, according to Singolf, an online membership brokerage platform.

In terms of pricing, potential visitors might anticipate premium costs - around $565,000 for local residents and $950,000 for foreigners, as indicated by the platform.

The green fees at Serapong range from competitive rates to exclusive experiences deping on the time of day or club membership.

In summary, this accolade not only underscores Sentosa Golf Club’s excellence but also highlights Singapore's growing prominence in the global golfing community, setting a new standard for golf course operations and member services.
