The Olympic Club, a distinguished private athletic club in San Francisco and home to five U.S. Opens, has made history by publishing North America's first Corporate Social Responsibility CSR report within the golf industry. This pioneering initiative, developed in partnership with IMPACT360 Sports, an indepent third-party firm founded by women, marks a significant milestone as it redefines the standards for top 100 courses and athletic clubs.
Ranking at number 33 on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Courses list since 1966, The Olympic Club now elevates its status beyond mere aesthetics and performance excellence. Through this report, the club showcases its comprehensive commitment to environmental sustnability, community engagement, and economic impact.
We m to lead in the sports industry, particularly within golf, by demonstrating responsible stewardship of our environment while fostering community involvement and contributing positively to the economy, stated Pat Finlen, General Manager at The Olympic Club. Our goal is to expand golf's reach and inclusivity across all 17 sports offered here, doing so with a sustnable approach.
The club boasts an impressive water usage strategy, where recycled water accounts for 89 of total consumption within its athletic club and golf courses combined, with this figure increasing to 97 at the golf course alone. This achievement reflects The Olympic Club's dedication to environmental conservation.
The Board takes pride in fostering a connected community among our members, employees, and partners, John A. Espiritu, President of The Olympic Club's Board, remarked. Together, we are committed to initiatives like achieving 89 recycled water use and diverting 76 of waste – all while positively impacting over 100,000 children in our communities.
Given golf's resurgence in the Olympics and growing interest from millennials, there is a heightened awareness for environmental stewardship and diversity within the sport. With thousands of courses spread across the United States, The Olympic Club is setting an industry standard by reinforcing its commitment to sustnability through CSR reporting, sd Aubrey McCormick, Co-Founder of IMPACT360 Sports. In today's world, where fans increasingly align with values that their own, transparency and a dedication to social responsibility are key for growth.
