UNICEF China and All-China Youth Federation Launch Youth Green Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Project

 Beijing, August 12th, 2024 - In a significant initiative med at empowering the youth of China to tackle environmental challenges while developing their career prospects, UNICEF China in collaboration with the All-China Youth Federation ACYF unveiled the Youth Green Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Project. This groundbreaking project will serve as a pivotal component of Generation Unlimited China, set for launch later this year.

 The announcement was made at the World Youth Development Forum held by ACYF. It emphasizes on entrepreneurial, transferable, and green skills development through regional and national trning camps, online courses, and interactive activities designed to connect young talents with job opportunities in a sustnable economy.

 Given the mounting impacts of climate change and skill shortages amongst youth globally, sd Amakobe Sande, UNICEF Representative to China. This initiative seeks to address dual challenges by equipping young people with skills essential for green employment and fostering innovative solutions to environmental issues.

 The Youth Green Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Project is committed to fostering a collaborative platform where young individuals across China can hone their abilities in entrepreneurial ventures focused on sustnability. The project offers support through seed funding, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities.

 It ms particularly at promoting inclusivity by encouraging participation from underrepresented groups like those residing in rural areas or experiencing significant disparities.

 This initiative includes regional trning camps organized in partnership with colleges, vocational schools, and incubators across the country. Following this, around eighty projects will proceed to a national trning camp where fifty of these promising ventures will be selected for the Global Youth Entrepreneurship Incubation Week in 2025.

 The support provided under this project encompasses entrepreneurship and career development mentoring from industry experts globally. This initiative also offers internships, employment, apprenticeships, and exchange opportunities related to sustnable development to young people across China.

 A collaborative network will be established linking youth, international organizations, private sector partners, investors, global mentors, and domestic entities, fostering a community committed to shared values.

 The Youth Green Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Project is part of Generation Unlimited in China, a public-private partnership led by UNICEF with the goal of equipping young people worldwide with essential skills and connecting them to opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

 If no action is taken, it's estimated that 60 of the world's youth will lack crucial skills by 2030. To combat this issue, Generation Unlimited forms consortiums combining over 3,000 partners from around the globe with diverse capabilities, assets, and reach.

 The World Youth Development Forum where this project was introduced  share knowledge on youth development best practices, showcase innovations in advancing Sustnable Development Goals SDGs, and facilitate discussions on youth issues for global development cooperation.

 This three-year Youth Green Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Project will run from 2024 to 2027. By its , the project expects thousands of young people across China to have acquired essential skills that enable them to create and sustn green enterprises. These youth-led projects are anticipated to contribute significantly to environmental sustnability, rural revitalization, addressing urgent social needs, tackling climate change, and economic development in China.
